Mayor of Dorchester contenders are wrapping up their campaigns in the final week of the contest that helps bring the Dorchester Day Parade down the avenue. The candidate to raise the most money for the cause wins. All three candidates are to hand in their funds May 19, but not before a few more fund-raising events.
Ryan Woods is hosting a scavenger hunt this Saturday, May 17 at the Old Dorchester Post in Adams Corner. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with music, raffles, and drinks from 9 p.m. to midnight. Those interested in participating in the hunt should call Woods at 617-823-5759. Tickets are $20.
Gloria-Ann Vieira will be hosting two fundraisers this week. On Thursday, May 15 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Gallivan Blvd. Papa Gino's customers can contribute 20 percent of their bill to Vieira's campaign by showing a flyer when ordering. Vieira will be on location that day, to hand out flyers.
Vieira is also throwing a Vendor Day House Party on Sunday, May 18, with raffles to win prizes from various brands like Tastefully Simple, Manicures by Cheryl, and Traveling Vineyards. For more information on either event, call Vieira at 617-233-9177.
PJ Trapani hosted his last two events, a Texas Hold 'Em Competition and a Kentucky Derby Party over the last couple of weeks. Those interested in donating to Trapani's campaign can still send a check payable to Dorchester Day Parade and mail it to PJ Trapani, 59 Hillsdale St., Dorchester, MA 02124.
