Wicked warning on Morrissey Boulevard: Flooding likely

A message board run by the state's Highway Division warned of an impending "Wicked High Tide" that is likely to cause lane restrictions or outright closures on Morrissey Boulevard over the next few days.

The boulevard - which runs between Dorchester Bay and Savin Hill cove - is regularly flooded during peak tide periods, usually caused by the confluence of wind, high tide, and the phase of the moon.

In a statement issued Monday evening, the DCR warns that there will be several flooding events on the boulevard in the coming days, starting with Tuesday morning's rush hour.

"The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is urging motorists to avoid Morrissey Boulevard between Freeport Street and Mt. Vernon Street (UMass/Boston) around the high tides week. DCR will be setting up detours as the high tides often create flooding along the roadway," said the statement issued to the press.

The statement is accompanied by the following list of high tides that could cause flooding, according to DCR:

11/22-between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
11/23-between 7:15 a.m. and 10 a.m.
11/24-between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
11/25-between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
11/26-between 9:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
11/27-between 10:45 a.m. and 12:45
11/28-between 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
11/29-between 12:45 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
