The Boston Redevelopment Authority has extended the public comment period for the proposed Harmon Apartments until June 5, a spokesperson from the authority said today.
"This will allow the development team and the neighborhood more time to review the proposed project," said John Campbell, project manager of development review for the BRA.
The Harmon Apartments has emerged as a contentious development along Dorchester Avenue as The Boston Home hopes to create affordable housing for residents suffering from multiple sclerosis. Neighbors are concerned about the apartments' proposed low-income status and the impact on traffic in the already congested area south of Ashmont Station.
The comment period was initially scheduled to end on May 1.
