A fast-moving fire caused by careless disposal of smoking material destroyed a multi-family home on Jones Hill on Tuesday afternoon, displacing residents and prompting a huge response from the Boston Fire Department.
The Reporter recorded scenes from the fire today on Periscope.
According to the BFD, the fire caused an estimated $500,000 in damage to the house and also left the siding of an adjacent home with substantial damage. Several ladder trucks were employed in the four-alarm response, which left Jones Hill immobilized for much of the afternoon.The fire started on a first floor porch.
One firefighter was treated and transported to the hospital with heat exhaustion. No other injuries were reported.
