Cross Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry off your list of potential 2017 Boston mayoral candidates.

“What? No,” the Dorchester Democrat said when asked whether she had given any consideration to running for the office. “We’re doing great here in the Senate. I am focusing, trying to get money for the district and for housing initiatives.”

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh plans to run for re-election next year. In his first years in office, he has retooled City Hall to make use of cutting-edge technology while also seeing his plans for bringing the Summer Olympics and a Grand Prix to Boston go down in flames. More recently, Walsh has been dealing with the indictment of the city’s top tourism official on a federal extortion charge.

Forry and Walsh served together as House members from neighboring Dorchester districts until 2013 when Dorcena Forry vaulted into the Senate. A few months later, Walsh won the mayoral election.

“I think Mayor Walsh is doing a good job in terms of really trying to bring issues forward,” Forry said when asked if a mayoral run was completely off the table. Crediting Walsh for bringing new attention to diversity and providing opportunities “for everyone,” Forry said, “I think he’s doing a good job as mayor.”
