Mayor Menino will throw out the first pitch at the annual Mayor’s Cup Baseball Tournament that gives players between the ages of 9 and 10 the opportunity to compete in a citywide competition.

Mayor Menino will help celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with the Chinatown Main Streets’ Annual Spring Festival – the event showcases the uniqueness of Chinatown with cultural performances including Chinese folk dances, Japanese taiko drums and Kung Fu performances.

Mayor Menino will join Red Sox star first baseman Kevin Youkilis for a photo op to promote the “Batting for Books†campaign – a partnership between Kevin Youkilis’ Hits for Kids program and the Boston Public Schools (BPS) to collect new or gently used books for BPS libraries. The goal of the campaign is to collect 100,000 books during the July 11 and July 12 Red Sox games.
1:30 PM 10th Annual Parents and Children’s Walk for Peace

Mayor Menino will join community members, survivors of homicide, state representatives and city councilors for this annual walk for peace sponsored by the Bobby Mendes Peace Legacy – an anti-violence initiative to help prevent violence in Dorchester and Roxbury.

COUNCILOR SAM YOON:
Over the weekend, Sam’s campaign will have a training session with media strategist Joe Trippi. Progressive candidates, staff members, and volunteers are invited to attend to learn about polling, targeting, messaging, fundraising, and media components. The training session is at the Metropolitan Community Room in Chinatown.
Sam will join several congregations in worship at churches in Roxbury and Mattapan on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, he will attend the 10th Anniversary of the Parents and Children’s Annual Walk for Peace in Grove Hall.
